ACCA P6 Malaysia - is it easy?

There is a large group of students rushing into ACCA P6, believing that this is an easy paper.

In terms of question style, it is.  It is probably the most direct paper within ACCA.

In terms of exam knowledge and application, that is another ball game.

You could have the best tips in the world - but at the time of the exam - it is your judgement of the issues faced by the questions and your knowledge of the materials that determine whether you will pass.

That day, I had a chat with a student that had all the tips for the exams - he was sure that he could easily pass the paper - NOPE, he failed.

He still does not understand the reason for the failure.

I would believe that he had answered the questions he had prepared for and not what was asked.

In this case, the papers examination requirements for knowledge and understanding the case can be considered to be hard.

On the balance, is ACCA P6 an easy paper - I would rate it the same as ACCA P4, P5 and P7.

It just seems that most people think it is easy because there is more people passing the paper - that is a statistical issue and not a paper issue.

If 200 students took P6 and 40% passed it : 80 students walk about saying it is easy
If 100 students took P5 and 40% passed it : 40 students walk about saying it is easy
If 50 students took P4 and 40% passed it : 20 students walk about saying it is easy

Now look at the pass rate - all the same, but perception of the student that is going to take the paper is that P6 is easier since he will bump into more students that took P6 rather than P4 or P5.

That explains the exponential mythical growth of why many people feel that P6 is easier and so many have been stuck with the paper.
